In 18th century, There was 2 types of Bassoon models. First one was a French bassoon. It was invented in France and it was made up of one piece of wood. In the middle of the 19th century, French bassoon’s development had been completed thanks to Buffet-Crampon is a French company Second one was a German bassoon. It was like as a French bassoon, one wood piece and In 19th century, it was developed by Wilhelm Heckel who was a bassoon manufacturer. From past to present, we can see some historical bassoons some of them can be used but some of them are protected by museums. According to my researh, “An important early iconographic source for the new bassoon is the Dutch painting Der Fagottspieler in the Suermondt Museum, Aachen.”
When we look at all of the types of eary bassoon, the wood piece had 3 or 5 different keys. It’s range goes from B flat octaves below C, up to the a above middle C. It was performed with double reed as well as present. But there is one differences, our reeds are smaller and softer than eary bassoon’s reeds.
